If application is approved participant will be invited to the Optimist Club Scholarship Event where each participant present their topic. A 1st 2nd and 3rd place winner will then be selected.

All entries will be contacted to attend the Oratorical, CCDHH, and Essay event to be held on Feb 17th, 2023 at 1:00 PM CST

Topic for the 2023-2024 school year is: “How to Change the World with Optimism “
This contest offers an opportunity for children who are deaf or hard of hearing to present their thoughts in the community, gaining skills, which can only come from signing or speaking to a large audience.
Who can enter: The contest is open to young people through grade 12 within the St. Louis Community.
Contestants make a 4-5 minute presentation on the assigned topic.

Club level prizes – 1st place $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200
Winners advance to the District contest to compete for $2,500 college scholarship. The Optimist International Foundations fund a $2,500 scholarship to any District that meets the minimum participation criteria.
